Exploring Business Building with a Human Design Projector Special Guest: Kathy Bochonko

I recently had an incredible conversation with Kathy Bochonko, a 6/2 Emotional Projector, who has been with Bodygraph.com almost since the beginning. We dove into the nuances of Human Design and its impact on business. I can’t wait to share some of the highlights with you here.

Kathy has been in her Human Design experiment for a few years now and she’s a sought after speaker on Human Design stages across the nation.

Here’s a bit of our conversation:
If you prefer to listen to the audio version, you’ll find the podcast episode here.

Kathy Bochonko Human Design

  • Vickie Dickson: Talk to me about your Human Design.
  • Kathy Bochonko: Let me show you with this cool little app that I use with Zoom. It’s called Prezie and it lets me show my Human Design Chart. It’s customized with my own design from Bodygraph.com too!You can see on Kathy’s chart here that she has three motors defined. As a projector, she doesn’t have a defined sacral, but she has a defined root, a defined emotional solar plexus, and a defined will, with ALL of the gates defined in her defined Will Centre.
    WOW!
  • Kathy Bochonko: Yes, I am willful. I was a willful person my whole life. Tell me I can’t and I will, every time.
  • Vickie Dickson: I feel you on that one.

How to Build Your Business as a Human Design Projector

  • Vickie Dickson: So, how does your Projector energy play out in your business?
  • Kathy Bochonko: I really had to realize that just because I can doesn’t mean I should. It’s about not attaching my value to being able to do enough. Building in cycles of rest, creating systems that allow me to do things more efficiently, and knowing when to say no to invitations have been crucial.

Finding your Human Design Niche While Honouring Past Careers

  • Vickie Dickson: What did you do before Human Design?
  • Kathy Bochonko: My main career was in retail fashion. I most recently worked for Lucky Brand Jeans. People used to call me the ‘Denim Whisperer’ or the ‘Denim Diva’. I had a skill for talking women off the ledge in the fitting room, helping them see the beauty in their body. I think that’s how Human Design works in a lot of ways. Sometimes we’re just trying to fit in the wrong jeans.
  • Vickie Dickson: That’s a really good analogy.

Using your Human Design 6 Line Profile in Business

  • Vickie Dickson: In your Human Design business or other businesses you’ve had, what’s the biggest mistake you’ve ever made?
  • Kathy Bochonko: As a sixth line, I’ve learned that the third line phase never really goes away. Every business, no matter what your design is, is always third line. So, I never wish away a mistake because I learned so much from what doesn’t work. I’d say listening to other people’s opinions too much and not trusting myself. Just because something doesn’t work for 90% of people doesn’t mean it isn’t the perfect thing for me. Really learning to trust myself has been the biggest lesson.

Trusting Yourself in Business

  • Vickie Dickson: When you really know and trust yourself, everything changes. Even the mistakes become opportunities. That’s such a valuable lesson. Let’s talk about getting systems in place in your business so that you have more freedom. That’s the whole point of having a business, right?
  • Kathy Bochonko: Exactly. And some days, it is a fiasco in your business, no matter your Human Design type. We miss that little nugget sometimes. We’re so focused on doing business the way we’re supposed to, we forget the whole point of knowing our Human Design is to do it our way.
  • Vickie Dickson: Letting go of the attachment of what we think it’s supposed to look like, right? Because if we’re only thinking about the destination, we miss the whole journey.

Human Design Podcast

  • Vickie Dickson: What’s the thing you’re most proud of in your business?
  • Kathy Bochonko: My podcast. I have a Human Design Facebook group that I was invited to take over. I kept trying to figure out how to make it my own. I started having these conversations in the group, which evolved into the Real Human Design Stories podcast. It really came from people referring to these conversations as my podcast.
  • Vickie Dickson: That’s amazing. And now you have all these assets in your business. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in their Human Design business?
  • Kathy Bochonko: Trust yourself. Embrace the mistakes. Follow your Human Design Strategy and Authority. Do things that feel right in you, the way you’re designed to make decisions. When things don’t work out the way you thought, it’s okay. It’s still part of your path.

Apps and Tools for Business

  • Vickie Dickson: What tools do you use in your business?
  • Kathy Bochonko: I use Bodygraph.com in many ways. I love that I can have my colors in my chart so that it matches my brand.I use ChatGPT a lot to bounce ideas. It helps me process as a self-projected projector. It’s like talking through my thoughts without driving people crazy.
  • Vickie Dickson: That’s a smart use of ChatGPT for someone who needs to verbally process.
I have an episode on my own podcast (Unjaded) where I talk about using AI in your business according to your Human Design Type. Check it out here.

Being Seen and Building Confidence through Human Design

  • Vickie Dickson: I saw a conversation you started on Facebook. Let’s talk about being noticed and being seen. What was the quote you shared?
  • Kathy Bochonko: The quote was from a TEDx talk: “We’re terrified of being noticed but dying to be seen.” It’s about how women, especially as we get older, tend to disappear. But we are the wise women with all the answers. Having something that makes you feel approachable is important. It can lead to meaningful conversations and connections.
  • Vickie Dickson: And that applies to business as well. If you’re not willing to be seen, how will you grow your business? Here’s a youtube video to a replay we did about getting comfortable being visible in your business.

Conclusion
Remember, every business is always in a third line phase. Embrace your mistakes, trust yourself, and enjoy the journey. Your business growth is a continuous process of learning and evolving. Join our community to continue the conversation and support each other in our business journeys.
